There has been much debate in the media about the proposed carbon price
legislation and this forum will address these issues and more.
The objective of the forum is to provide
the public with clear and simple explanations on issues relating to climate
change, a carbon price and renewable energy by offering expert presentation and
by concluding with a Q&A style debate. There will be plenty of time for
questions from the audience.
The forum will cover the following issues:
- The science of climate change;
- The proposed mechanism of putting a price on carbon pollution and
the accompanying initiatives to be legislated; and
- The renewable energy prospects for Australia that will arise from
limiting carbon pollution.
The forum will hear from the following
speakers:
Bernard Hockings, Australian Conservation Foundation: "The Al
Gore Climate Reality Project"
Georgina Woods, Director of Climate Action Network Australia:
"The Clean Energy Legislation Package Simply Explained"
Dr Bill Lilley, Group Leader of Integrated Energy and Economics
Modelling at CSIRO: "The Prospects of Renewable Energy in Australia"
MC: Dr Gary Ellem, Project Manager
for the Carbon Valley 2050 project, The Tom Farrell
