About 100% Ready

A vast majority of Australians support a move to 100% clean energy.

But a lot also think we’re not ready yet.

We're here to bring you real stories from the clean energy frontline that prove Australia is 100% ready to start making the switch.

You’ll hear from workers, farmers, small businesses, big businesses, inventors, investors and community leaders; all of whom are seeing big benefits for themselves, their communities and Australia from the work that’s going on around the country.

When you listen to these people, the message is clear: clean energy creates installation, assembly and maintenance jobs in regional areas, it offsets energy price rises, it gives farmers income without damaging the land, it provides returns to investors, and creates a new sector that diversifies our economy and keeps the money right here in Australia.

And, unlike coal seam gas, it does all these things without polluting our environment or contributing to climate change.

So sit back, grab a cup of tea and enjoy hearing from the people who are leading the future. You might be surprised at how far they’ve come and how ready we are to start the switch to 100% clean energy - right here, right now.

Save Solar Rally - Monday 6th June 11:30am - Newcastle

in
02/06/2011 - 10:50
When: Monday 6th June 11:30am

Where: Outside the office of Tim Owen: 26 Bolton Street NEWCASTLE

The Solar PV Industry has teamed up with community groups to organise a number or rallies around NSW next week to show the new O'Farrell Liberal Government the extend of community anger of their disastrous decision to kill off the NSW Solar Industry.

As most people are now aware, the State Government is proposing to introduce retrospective legislation to reduce the legislated 60c/kWh Feed In Tariff for existing solar customers.  This is a massive breach of trust with the people of NSW, not just those with Solar.  Retrospective legislation in this case would undermine the legitimacy of every decision the Government makes with people asking the obvious question?

Can they be trusted?

If that we not enough to warrant coming out in support of the solar industry and renewable energy more generally, the solar industry now faces an uncertain future.  In fact more than 5000 people currently emplyed in the industry are at real risk of losing their jobs.

Australia Says YES to Climate Action

Will the government stand up and put a strong price on pollution? You, your friends, workmates and family can make the difference.

Sunday 5 June is our day say YES to action on climate climate change.

YES to renewable energy! YES to a cleaner environment! YES to support for lower income households! YES to finally making the polluters pay for the pollution they create!

Members and supports of Climate Action Newcastle will be catching to the train to Sydney to join many thousands of people at 1 of 7 major rallies around the country to say YES to a Price on Pollution.

Will you join us on World Environment Day to Say YES?

When: 11am, Sunday 5 June (Train leaves Newcastle Station at 7.22am)

Where: Prince Alfred Park, Sydney (near Central Station)

RSVP and more info: Getup page here  Facebook page here

Get set for a big, bright, fun and family-friendly day, with bands, great speakers and even face-painting for the kids! You will be one of thousands across Australia making the time to stand up and demonstrate support for a price on carbon pollution and the start of the clean energy transition for Australia.

Right now, the Federal Government, the Greens and the Independents are making choices for our future. They can set an ambitious carbon price and reinvest in renewable energy, or, they can cave into the big polluters, who are lobbying hard to make sure money stays in their pockets.

On June 5, we can make sure our voices are heard - right at the time when our government needs to hear our support the loudest.

We'd be proud to stand with you on Sunday!
