The Earth Relay – 11am Nobbys, this Sunday & Reminder for Mayfield Planning Forum tomorrow

The Earth Relay - 11am Nobbys, this Sunday

You're invited to come and support Clean Energy and enjoy a promised "mostly sunny" day this Sunday.

What: the 2 metre Earth Globe comes to Newcastle as part of its national tour in support of clean energy legislation.

When: this Sunday 23rd October, 11:00 am

Where: Meet at Nobby's Beach by causeway (end of car park)

Join with Transition Newcastle, Climate Action Newcastle and Rising Tide to get some photos for the Earth Relay with a 2 metre Earth Globe this Sunday at 11am.

To show support for the federal government's clean energy legislation, environmental groups from across Australia are relaying inflatable globes to Canberra to meet the house-sized Climate Rescue Station on the lawns of Parliament House.

The Earth Relay was launched in Victoria from the steps of Flinders Station last month and local environment groups are coming together to take photos of their members and supporters with the globe in iconic local locations, such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Byron Bay lighthouse, the Three Sisters, the Royal National Park, and Nobby's Lighthouse in Newcastle, to name but a few. These photos will then be collected by the Nature Conservation Council of NSW and sent to the Climate Rescue Station as a symbolic representation of public support for climate action.

The NSW relay started on 1 October 2011 in the far north coast of NSW, and will be in Newcastle on 23rd October. We will have a 180cm inflatable globe and will gather at Nobby's by the carpark just before 11am (and a walk on the beach or breakwater) for a photo showing support for the federal government's clean energy legislation.

So come for a walk, a smile, a chat, a swim etc, or just to hold the Earth up and be a part of the photo. Hope to see you there.
